The lights are off. Blorbo is behind the couch, or in the laundry, or inside a box he labelled DEFINITELY NOT BLORBO. You have a flashlight. He has one eye, a bright orange body and no plan.

Mouse or finger: sweep the flashlight. Keyboard: Tab to a spot and press Enter (the lights come on). No time limit.

How to play

  1. Blorbo hides behind one of five things: the couch, the laundry pile, a box, the floor lamp or the plant.
  2. Sweep the flashlight with your mouse, or drag a finger. Look for anything orange that is breathing.
  3. Click or tap a spot to look behind it. Every new look counts. Checking the same couch twice is free; it is still a couch.
  4. Wrong spot? A muffled voice says warm or cold. He cannot help himself.
  5. Five rounds. The furniture moves, the beam shrinks, and from round three he builds decoys. Fewest looks wins. A perfect game is five.

The muffled voice

Press Tab and the lights come on. With the lights on he hides properly, so the game switches to sound effects of the verbal kind: after every wrong look, a muffled voice from somewhere says warm, lukewarm, cold or freezing. Three looks is always enough. He knows. He talks anyway.

Mistype an address here and you get a 404 page with a dark back room and Blorbo behind something in it. Find him and he turns the broken address into a shop search and a few gift guides, so the wrong turn still goes somewhere.

Find him on three different broken pages and you earn Hide-and-Seek Champion, which comes with his flashlight. He says he has a spare. He does not have a spare. Games played here don't count toward it: it has to be a real wrong turn.

Is Hide and Seek free?

Yes. No account, no coins, no ads. The only prize is the look on Blorbo's face, and he only has the one face.

Can I play with a keyboard or a screen reader?

Yes. Tab moves between the five hiding spots and Enter looks. The lights come on for keyboards, and after every wrong look a muffled voice says warm or cold, so you can find him without seeing the room at all.

Is there a time limit?

No. There is a clock for bragging, and the Relaxed pace switch hides it. Your score is the number of looks, not the time.

Where is my score saved?

Only in this browser. There is no leaderboard and nobody else sees it. You are competing with past you.

Why is Blorbo so bad at hiding?

He is bright orange and roughly the shape of a gumdrop. He considers this a disguise. We have stopped arguing.
